We got to Mission San Juan Capistrano when it opened at 9am to avoid the summer heat and we barely escaped it by the end of the session. But it was a beautiful morning walking through the gardens, and hunting for arches and crumbling architecture that would make a cool backdrop for their photos. J + S specifically mentioned wanting to try an engagement session location that was not the beach, if possible. We did some searching throughout Orange County and this was the top pick. If you're looking for a location that has a classy feel with historical architecture, then I definitely recommend taking a look at your local California mission, but specifically Mission San Juan Capistrano if you are in Southern California.
